Danica Reslock

Danica began taking lessons with trainer and USEF hunter/jumper judge Jane Shaw as a youth rider.  She quickly advanced to riding the problem horses at Jane's barn and showed various horses in hunters, equitation and jumpers as a youth rider.

As a young adult, she went to work for Billy Camarillo as an assistant trainer and learned to ride cutting horses and start colts.  She took training classes in the equine program at Pierce College with renowned trainer Paddy Warner.  After that, she rode with Joe Willey, LAPD Mounted Unit's trainer, and got her personal horse POST certified.  Danica gained experience working with foals and young horses at Ruby Sky Ranch, one of the premier breeders of Gypsy Vanner Horses in the U.S.

She began taking private training clients thereafter and became the head trainer at Polo Pony Rescue in 2013, working with a wide variety of horses with issues and making them safe for adopters.  Danica was so successful with the rescue horses that other rescues started sending their incorrigible horses to Southern California to give them a last chance.  She became particularly well known for reforming so-called aggressive horses, including a filly scheduled for euthanasia because of her attacks on people (who is a youth rider's eventer these days!)

Danica has ridden in a wide variety of clinics with George Morris (Hunters), Warwick Schiller (Reining/Problem Horses), Nicole Chastain-Price (Working Equitation) and Jonathan Field (Horsemanship).  She has successfully competed in Extreme Cowboy Racing, winning the Regional Pro Division Championship and competing at the World Show.  Danica is also CHA certified and has completed the WDAA Train the Trainers Program. She has trained horses for competition in a wide variety of disciplines, including Dressage, Western Dressage, Show Jumping, Hunters, Barrel Racing, EXCA, Reining, Polo, Endurance, and Driving.

In 2020, Danica began offering evaluation and consultation services. She now focuses on pre-purchase style evaluations, and also offers on-site behavioral evaluations pre-sale and for problem behaviors. She is always happy to work with area trainers who are helping their students horse shop, or have a horse with an issue that needs intensive attention.
